Do you have a small storage space and need to create some sort of order? Read on to find out how we at Hestwood & Co. took a small closet (in our first nursery) with little storage space, to a functional closet full of spaces and places for everything!

What We Had: A Small Closet

A small closet: 60 inches wide, 24 inches deep, 8 feet tall with one 11 inch deep shelf and one bar for hanging clothes.
We knew the current design of this closet wasn't going to cut it. As you see, this closet uses a lot of space to hang adult-size clothes, with almost no storage for ALL the baby gear we have accumulated.
What We Did: Created a simple closet organization system
We removed the current shelf and bar, patched the walls, and painted the impacted spots.
Then we took the shelf that was previously in the closet and moved it higher and secured it using these brackets (but any stable brackets will work).
Finally, we created a plan knowing what we needed to store and organize. We used the Algot system at IKEA and were able to customize it using this link.
If you're looking for additional support with this system, here is the buying guide.
If you don’t want to think about what you need or how to do this, contact Hestwood & Co. to design and install it for you!
What We Got: A happy mama (AKA: an easy to organize closet)

We now have spots to hang clothes, place storage bins full of diapers, toys wipes, bibs and other baby gear. While this has worked perfectly for our nursery, this can easily be done for any need!
Here are the additional storage solutions we used in the closet:

If you’re ready to tackle this on your own, I recommend using the IKEA builder and having some patience (as most of us know with IKEA products, it takes a LOT of patience) or researching places like Home Depot or Lowes to find the best closet solution for you!
